Primary Election Day

Statewide
The best way to stay civically engaged and to advocate for the environment and environmental justice communities is by making sure you cast your ballot. This year, the State is making voting accessible for all during the COVID pandemic.
Early voting and regular polling sites will remain open this year, but many New Yorkers will prefer to vote at home through an absentee ballot. Fortunately, Governor Cuomo signed an Executive Order that allows all primary voters to vote absentee this year.
If you prefer to vote through an absentee ballot
The application deadline is on June 16th. Anyone who is eligible to vote in the primary should have been mailed an absentee ballot application with a postage paid envelope to mail back the application. Make sure you mail your application by June 16th. You can also apply by downloading the application online. Here’s how:
NYC voters can apply here: https://nycabsentee.com/absentee
Other NYS residents can apply here: https://www.elections.ny.gov/NYSBOE/download/voting/AbsenteeBallot-English.pdf. Find where to mail/email your application here: https://www.elections.ny.gov/CountyBoards.html
If you prefer to vote in person
Early voting runs from June 13th to June 21st. Find your early voting site here: https://www.voteearlyny.org
Primary Day is on June 23rd. Find your regular polling site here: https://voterlookup.elections.ny.gov
Voting for candidates that support policies to fight climate change, protect our natural resources, and advance environmental justice is one of the most important ways that you can make a difference – even from home. We hope you’ll join us in casting your ballot for the environment later this month.
