Gia Mahmoud

Gia has over 20 years of leadership experience in the energy sector. She is currently the Vice President of National Grid’s Work Plan Development and Resource Management organization, where she implements the US strategy by developing a balanced NY Electric TOTEX work plan for customers and stakeholders. Gia oversees project development, portfolio controls, estimating, program management, resource planning, and strategic business planning, managing electric transmission and distribution capital projects with an annual budget exceeding $2 billion.
Previously, Gia led the Future of Electric team, developing strategies to transform the electricity business to meet key policy, customer, environmental, resiliency, and affordability goals. She has also served as Director of Grid Modernization Solutions, creating strategic roadmaps for modernizing the distribution grid, and as Director, Distributed Generation Ombudsperson, facilitating the interconnection of distributed energy resources (DER) and managing developer and customer relationships. Earlier, she led the Substation Engineering and Design team, delivering the capital work plan and providing technical support for substations.
Gia holds a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from the University of Minnesota, as well as an Executive MBA from Cornell University.
