The best way to stay civically engaged and to advocate for the environment and environmental justice communities is by making sure you cast your ballot.
The deadline to register to vote online through the NYS DMV website is October 9th: https://voterreg.dmv.ny.gov/MotorVoter. The deadline for registering to vote by mail is (postmarked by) also October 9th. Download the English form. Download the Spanish form. More information on the NYS Board of Elections registration website here: www.elections.ny.gov/votingregister.html
This year, the State is making voting accessible for all during the COVID pandemic. Early Voting and regular Election Day polling sites will remain open this year, and the State Legislature passed a bill to allow all registered voters to vote absentee this year.
If you prefer to vote in person
Early voting runs from October 24th – November 1st. Find your early voting site here: https://www.voteearlyny.org
Election Day is on November 3rd. Find your regular polling site here: https://voterlookup.elections.ny.gov
Voting for candidates that support policies to fight climate change, protect our natural resources, and advance environmental justice is one of the most important ways that you can make a difference – even from home. We hope you’ll join us in casting your ballot for the environment later this month.
If you prefer to vote through an absentee ballot
This fall, all New York voters can vote by mail due to the risk of contracting COVID-19. You can select “Temporary illness or disability” as the reason for your request. The absentee ballot application deadline is on October 27th. Make sure you mail your application by October 27th. Here’s how to apply:
