Andrea Schmitz is Vice President of Environment, Health and Safety at Con Edison. Schmitz was previously General Manager of Brooklyn/Queens Electric Construction where she was responsible for the overhead, services and subsurface construction groups. Schmitz joined Con Edison in 1996 and worked as a section manager and director in various units in EH&S including Gas EH&S, Asbestos and Wetlands, and Environmental Response Team and Chem Lab. In 2007, Schmitz became the Deputy Ombudsman. She became Assistant to the Chief Executive Officer in 2009. Before joining the company, Schmitz worked for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in Washington, D.C. where she worked on solid waste and air programs. She was also an adjunct professor at Columbia from 2004 – 2009 in the Master’s in Environmental Science and Policy Program.
