    So many daily practices, from brushing your teeth and washing your face to driving to the gym, can be environmentally damaging. But self-care and environmentally friendly attitudes don’t have to go against one another. There are several ways to improve your health and wellness while going green!

    With health and wellness issues on the rise, take a leap and make some easy changes in your daily lifestyle that are not just affordable, but will have health benefits for you and the environment.

    Hygiene & Skin Care


    • Buy organic, fresh produce
    • Participate in Meatless Mondays “because going meatless once a week may reduce your risk of chronic preventable conditions like cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and obesity. And going meatless once a week can also help reduce our carbon footprint and save precious resources like fossil fuels and fresh water.”
    • Go vegan and try out some smoothie recipes that will provide you with just as many nutrients as a full meal, with the added boost of improving your metabolism
    • Green your diet by choosing locally sourced, sustainably produced or harvested food items.

    Exercise & Stress

    • Take advantages of the outdoors for your workout, using your own body weight and nature to burn calories, build strength, and improve your endurance.
    • Reduce stress naturally by creating a zen garden, using essential oils, or visiting an eco-friendly spa.
    • Ditch the car and lose weight.  Zipcar performed a study with a group of participants that chose to opt-out of car ownership and join the car-sharing company. In doing so, there were incredible results including a 93% increase in walking, and a 132% increase in miles traveled by bicycle. They also ditched the financial burden and stress of car loans, insurance, and finding a parking spot.
